Sales Territory Size Calculator

This sales territory size calculator takes accounts or households, visit frequency, visits per day, and work days, then prints how many reps and how many households sit in each territory. Knockdesk is field sales software. The default book is 4,000 households, 4 visits a year, 50 visits a day, and 200 work days, which is 16,000 visits, 2 reps, and 2,000 households per territory. This is not the map maker. No signup is required, and nothing you type is uploaded to an account.

Methodology

Households, visits, and work days

How many sales reps do I need is the question after you know the visit frequency. Visits the book needs are accounts or households times visits per account per year. Visits one rep can finish are visits per day times work days in the year. Reps you need are the book visits divided by one rep's year, rounded up. Households per territory are accounts divided by reps, rounded up. A sales capacity calculator that ignores work days will undercount territories.

  1. 1Enter accounts or households in the book.
  2. 2Set visits per account per year, visits per day, and work days.
  3. 3Read reps you need and households per territory.
  4. 4Book a walkthrough to draw the territory and cut turf. This page will not draw the map.
Constants this sales territory size calculator uses. Rounding is up to the next whole rep and the next whole household count.

When it lies

The headcount lies when the visit never happened

Two reps for 4,000 households lies if the visit frequency is a wish. Visits per day lie when the book includes doors the crew cannot enter. Work days lie when weather and training days stay in the 200. This calculator sizes the book. It does not draw a territory or cut turf.

  • A wish frequency

Four visits a year is only real if last year's pins show four visits.

  • A padded day

Fifty visits a day lies when travel, sits, and callbacks eat the afternoon.

  • A 200-day fiction

Work days lie when rain, training, and ride-alongs stay in the year count.

  • Not the map

A headcount is not a boundary. The map maker is a different page.

The desk

This is not the map maker

Two reps and 2,000 households per territory is a size, not a map. Knockdesk draws the territory and cuts turf a rep can hold. This calculator will not draw that line. Full desk is on the pricing page.
