Create territory map by zip code, then cut turf inside

Create territory map by zip code by picking the zip shape and cutting turf inside it, or by using a polygon, a circle, a rectangle, a county, or a state when that zip is the wrong edge. Knockdesk field sales software holds that map under the sales territory management pillar.

  1. 1Pick one zip when that shape is the boundary you want. In Knockdesk a zip is a Census ZCTA, not an official USPS route.
  2. 2If the zip is the wrong edge, draw a polygon, a circle, or a rectangle, or pick a county or a state.
  3. 3Assign the territory to a team or to one field rep. That routes later turf. It does not, by itself, reassign every pin.
  4. 4Cut turf inside the boundary by lasso, by a CSV of addresses, or from pins on the map. The lasso has to stay inside the territory.
  5. 5Put one vendor on the turf and assign one owner. New turf cannot overlap turf already cut.

The shape

A zip code territory map is a boundary, not a household total

A zip code territory map here is one Census ZCTA with turf cut inside it. It is not an official USPS route, and it does not arrive with a household count. Guessing homes from the zip code invents a number the desk does not have. Draw the edge you mean, then cut the work a person can hold.

  • Not a carrier route

The zip shape is a Census ZCTA, not an official USPS route. Do not knock it as if the carrier walk were the territory.

  • No household count

Knockdesk does not hand you a household count for that zip. Cut turf from the pins you place, not from a total you guessed.

  • Outside the edge

New turf has to sit inside the territory. A lasso that leaves the zip is not turf on that map.

  • Overlap

New turf cannot overlap turf already cut, including turf you cut from a neighboring zip.

The cut

Pick the zip, then hand someone the turf

Draw the territory as that zip, or as a polygon, a circle, a rectangle, a county, or a state. Cut turf inside it and put one owner on the pack. The zip is the boundary. The turf is the work. Full desk is on the pricing page. A free trial is not open.
