KnockDesk

onboarding a new sales rep

Keep the hire in the sidebar, and still send them to the door

Onboarding a new sales rep is assigning a checklist the hire finishes on the phone, while they can still knock, until My Onboarding hits Completed. Knockdesk is field sales software for that first week, and this how-to sits on the guides hub next to the sales onboarding feature and the sales rep onboarding checklist.

    Sales rep onboarding checklist

The checklist this process is supposed to finish.

  1. 1Open People, then Tools, then Onboarding. Set the target role to Field Sales Rep or Sales Manager.
  2. 2Turn on the policies you need: Sequential Completion, Allow Skipping Optional Tasks, Auto-assign to New Users, and Require Admin Approval.
  3. 3Assign the template from User Onboarding, or from the person on People. Auto-assign gives that template to new users of the target role.
  4. 4The hire opens My Onboarding. Tasks can be a short answer, long answer, checklist, true or false, link, file upload, form, or fillable document they can sign on the phone.
  5. 5When every required task is Completed, or an admin marks Manually Completed, My Onboarding hides. Until then it stays. It does not block a knock.

The first week

A sales onboarding process that still lets them knock

A sales onboarding process that withholds the route until every PDF is signed teaches the hire that the packet matters more than the door. Sales rep onboarding on this desk is the opposite: My Onboarding stays in the sidebar until Completed or Manually Completed, and the product does not block a knock or a route. A contest can still wait. Require finished onboarding is eligibility, not a lock on the pin.

  • The sidebar

My Onboarding stays until status is Completed or Manually Completed. Then it hides.

  • The lock

Sequential Completion keeps later required tasks locked until earlier required work is done or submitted. Optional work can still be skipped.

  • The door

They can clock in, cut a knock, and log Not Home while the list is still open.

The misses

Mistakes that hide the hire or block the week

The miss is treating onboarding a new sales rep as a gate on the first knock. You hold the turf, the packet lives in email, and the contest is already live for anyone who saw the thread. The hire either never knocks, or knocks with no list in the sidebar.

The bar this how-to holds. Sample rows, not a customer audit.
