what is tiered commission
What is tiered commission is a rate that changes after a line you already named. Knockdesk is field sales software that still pays the vendor rate that was live at confirmation, then the default organization rate if the vendor has none. The product never invents a Knockdesk rate.
Book a Walkthrough| Piece | On that paper plan |
|---|---|
| Definition | The rate changes after a line. Each window has its own amount. |
| Example through the line | 10 confirmed sales at $80 |
| Example after the line | The next sales at $120 |
| 14 confirmed | 10 × $80 = $800. 4 × $120 = $480. Total $1,280. |
| On this desk | Vendor rate at confirmation, then the org default. Empty if neither exists. |
The line
You feel it when sale 11 pays the same as sale 1, and the offer letter promised a lift. What is tiered commission includes a line you can recompute and a rate you already saved. 14 confirmed on a 10-sale line is four units at the higher example rate. A chat that says pay the top end is how the deal and the ledger stop matching. Knockdesk does not ship those dollars.
Write the count where the rate changes. A good Tuesday is not a line.
Confirmation uses the vendor rate whose window contains that moment, then the default organization rate.
If neither rate exists, the amount stays empty. The product never invents a Knockdesk rate.
Fourteen deals
A paper tier pays $80 on the first 10 confirmed sales and $120 after that line. 14 confirmed sales is 10 × 80 = 800, plus 4 × 120 = 480, which is 1,280. Knockdesk does not flip a quota-count switch to those dollars. Confirmation still picks the vendor rate that was live, then the org default. If both are missing, the 14 deals stay on the pipeline and the amount stays empty.
| Window | Math | Example total |
|---|---|---|
| First 10 | 10 × 80 | $800 |
| Sales 11 through 14 | 4 × 120 | $480 |
| All 14 | 800 + 480 | $1,280 |
| No vendor rate and no default | Neither row exists | Empty. No commission row. |

An accelerator is extra pay after a quota line. What is tiered commission is any rate that changes after a line, including a paper plan you already wrote. How you calculate sales commission is confirmed sales times the rate that was live, or an empty amount.
Extra pay after a quota line, on confirmed sales only.
Confirmed sales times the live rate, with math you can recompute.
On the desk
Confirmation uses the vendor rate whose window contains that moment, then the default organization rate. If neither exists, the amount stays empty. Knockdesk does not invent a rate and does not flip a quota-count switch. You still write a paper tier if that is the plan. Put one vendor on the turf so the deal picks the right window. FAQ
Tiered commission is a rate that changes after a line you already named. In the example, sales 11 through 14 pay $120 instead of $80.
No. The product never invents a Knockdesk rate. Confirmation uses the vendor rate, then the org default, or it leaves the amount empty.
An accelerator is extra pay after a quota line. A tier is any plan where the rate changes after a line. Write which one you mean.
The amount stays empty. Knockdesk does not fill a blank tier.
Pay follows the vendor rate that was live. A mixed pack is how the lift lands on the wrong offer.
10 × $80 plus 4 × $120. Those dollars are an example, not a rate that ships with the product.
