sales route planning software
Order the doors still open.
Knockdesk is field sales software, and sales route planning software is how that desk lines up the next door. It takes the turf a rep holds, puts unfinished stops in driving order, leaves finished stops finished, and sets the shift to On Route when the route starts.

The job
What route planning does on held turf
Sales route mapping software in Knockdesk is the stop list on turf you already hold. Finished doors stay finished. The open doors are the ones that move. You see that line before the crew leaves the lot, and the walkthrough is where you put your own unfinished turf on it.

The morning
How the driving order gets built
A sales route planner app fails the morning it reopens doors that were already knocked. Knockdesk starts from active turf and the stops still open, so the first drive is the one you meant to run.
- 1Choose active territory and the turf on it. The stop list opens on unvisited pins.
- 2Select the stops. Optimize order runs when 3 to 25 routable stops are selected. Reorder by hand after that and the order you set stays.
- 3Save the pack. Optimizing a saved pack rewrites the unfinished order and keeps completed stops at the front.
- 4Start the route. The pack moves to in progress, and the shift state becomes On Route. Auto clock-in when starting a route is on by default, so Knockdesk clocks in a rep who is still offline, then sets On Route.
- 5Mark a stop done. It stays done. When every stop is done, the pack completes and the shift returns to Clocked In.
The product
Settings in the product
Route optimization for field sales here orders unfinished stops by driving duration. The start is the origin you send, or the first unfinished stop if you send none. The finish is one stop, and round trip is off. The rows are the settings in the product.
| Setting | In the product |
|---|---|
| Optimize order | Runs in the stop picker when 3 to 25 routable stops are selected. Above 25, the control says Optimize supports up to 25 stops. |
| Saved-pack chunks | Each optimize call takes up to 24 unfinished stops. A larger pack is ordered in those chunks. Fewer than 2 unfinished stops with coordinates keeps the stored order. |
| Pack status | Only a pending or in-progress pack can be optimized. |
| Completed stops | Stay at the front. Only unfinished stops are reordered, and a completed stop stays completed. |
| When starting a route | The shift state becomes On Route. Auto clock-in when starting a route is on by default. |
| Stop list | Opens on unvisited pins, from active territory and active turf. |
| Coordinates | On a saved pack, optimize uses the road-snapped point when the pin has one, and the door point otherwise. |
| Round trip | Off. Driving duration from the origin, ending at one stop. |

What the manager holds and what the rep drives
Route planning software for sales reps is the list in their hands. The manager's job is the pack before that list starts, and the On Route shift after it does.
Manager
A sales manager who leads the rep's team can optimize that rep's pack. An admin can optimize any pack in the organization. Both pick from active territories.
Rep
A field rep sees territories assigned to them, builds the pack, and starts it. Starting it sets their shift to On Route. They can optimize their own pack.
The sheet
Versus a spreadsheet
Sales route optimization software has one job a spreadsheet skips: leave the done doors done and order the rest by driving duration. The table is an example, not a customer week.
| Example | Number | What Knockdesk does |
|---|---|---|
| Unfinished stops | 18 | Reordered by driving duration |
| Stops already done | 6 | Stay at the front, still done |
| Optimize order in the picker | 18 selected | Allowed, because 18 sits between 3 and 25 |
| A longer picker selection | 30 selected | Optimize order is blocked above 25 stops |
| A saved pack | 30 unfinished | Ordered in chunks of 24 |

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What does sales route planning software do in Knockdesk?
It builds a driving order across turf a rep holds, reorders unfinished stops, and leaves completed stops completed. Starting the route sets the shift to On Route.
Is there a stop limit?
The stop picker's Optimize order runs for 3 to 25 routable stops. A saved pack with more unfinished stops is optimized in chunks of 24. Fewer than 2 unfinished stops with coordinates keeps the stored order.
What happens to stops that are already done?
They stay done and stay at the front of the pack. Optimize does not put them back into the driving order.
Does starting a route change the shift?
Yes. The work session moves to On Route. Auto clock-in when starting a route is on by default, so a rep who is still offline is clocked in, then moved to On Route. With that switch off, the route starts when they are already clocked in.
What does the optimizer use?
Driving duration. The order starts at the origin you send, or at the first unfinished stop, and it ends at one stop. Round trip is off.
Which plan includes routes?
Full desk is the only Knockdesk plan. It is Full desk. A free trial is not open.
Can a manager change a rep's order?
The rep can optimize their own pack. A sales manager can optimize a pack for a rep on a team they lead. An admin can optimize any pack in the organization.
