# A solicitor permit is a city card

A solicitor permit is a city license, not a national card. Knockdesk is field sales software for teams that sell in person. There is no one national solicitor permit. This page is general information, not legal advice. The table is the city and court sources a manager opens before the crew cuts turf in a new territory.

## Do you need a permit to sell door to door

Do you need a permit to sell door to door depends on the city, not on a national desk. A commercial crew often needs a solicitor permit, a peddler license, or a solicitor license from that clerk. A card from last week's city does not cover the next territory. Knockdesk does not issue the license. It keeps the visit on the pin after the crew is allowed to knock.

**Solicitor permit.** The city card for commercial door-to-door work. Open the clerk page for that city. Do not reuse another city's file.

**Peddler license.** Denver names the same job a peddler license. Selling door to door is on that peddler page, with a yearly renew.

**Solicitor license.** Salt Lake City names a solicitors license under ordinance 5.64. The applicant applies for a business license or works under a current one.

## What a solicitor permit application asks

A solicitor permit application is a city packet, not a Knockdesk form. Denver's Peddler application and Salt Lake City's solicitors license page show how far the packets diverge. The lesson stalls when the approved badge lives in a folder and the knock never hits the pin.

1. Open the city licensing page for the territory you will cut, not a national form.
2. On Denver Peddler application, a new file asks for a state or federal ID, a headshot that meets badging rules, a CBI background check from the past seven days, and the applicant criminal history form.
3. Denver charges a $50 license fee for that peddler license. The badge must be on the outermost clothing while working. Licenses renew yearly.
4. On Salt Lake City Finance, a solicitors license needs a BCI report uploaded with the application, and a business license or a seat under a current business license.
5. Read that city's hours and sign rules next. Denver Chapter 47 is one ordinance. The next city will write a different one.

## The license is not the whole local rule

Denver Chapter 47 still binds a licensed peddler after the badge prints. The crew can hold a valid peddler license and still miss a sign or an hour. A paper list of no-soliciting houses that never becomes a do-not-contact pin gets knocked again.

| Rule in Denver Chapter 47 | What the ordinance says |
| --- | --- |
| License | An individual who peddles goods, merchandise, or services needs a peddler license, with named exceptions such as some tax-exempt groups. |
| Hours | Door-to-door sales at residences are unlawful from one-half hour after sunset until 8:00 a.m. the next day. |
| Leave when told | The peddler must leave private property immediately when the owner, agent, or occupant says so. |
| Signs | Do not solicit where a visible, legible sign says solicitation is not desired or is prohibited, unless permission was already given. |

## The badge does not log the visit

The city packet answers who may knock. It does not write the visit. When the solicitor permit sits in a folder, the no-soliciting house sits in a chat, and the closed sale sits in a different tool, Friday does not match the turf. Knockdesk keeps the visit, the do-not-contact pin, and the deal on one Full desk. The Oak Ave install card on this page is a sample. It is $4,200, won and pending review. It is not a customer result. Full desk is on the pricing page. A free trial is not open.

## Open the state page for the cities you run

State pages collect that state's statutes and point at city clerks. They do not replace the solicitor permit application the city still runs.
