# Draw the territory before you cut turf

How to draw a territory in Knockdesk is a boundary you save before anyone cuts turf. Knockdesk is field sales software. On Canvass, open Create Territory, enter a Name, pick a Draw Type, then save the shape.

## A pin is not a territory

Create Territory on Canvass is the first area a rep can hold. Radius is the circle tool. Zip takes one zip code. State and County take one or more shapes. Until that boundary is saved, turf has nowhere to sit, and Friday's number has no edge.

## After the territory is saved

- [Knockdesk help center](/help): The rest of the task list after the first boundary.

- [Knockdesk pricing](/pricing): The desk that holds the territory you just drew.

- [Sales territory mapping](/features/sales-territory-mapping): The feature page for the territory and the turf inside it.

- [How to cut turf with the lasso](/help/cut-turf-with-the-lasso): The next cut, inside the boundary you saved.
