# The recording instead of the passenger seat

A virtual ride-along is coaching from a recording instead of the passenger seat. Knockdesk is field sales software, and a manager asking what is a virtual ride along wants the tape, not another six hours in the car.

## A virtual ride-along without a pin is just a file

You feel it when you listen at night and cannot say which turf the talk was on. What is a virtual ride along is the coaching. The knock still has to sit on a pin. Jordan's 2 of 5 on objections only helps if those two skips are doors you can open again.

**Consent.** Record after the required consent. Pause when you need to. Offline still keeps the tape.

**The recap.** Summary, objections, interest, and the follow-up the door asked for.

**Six scores.** Opening, rapport, discovery, presentation, objections, close. There is no live whisper.

## The tape is not the passenger seat

A virtual ride-along starts after the recording. A ride-along puts the manager in the car. Turf is still the pack those 14 doors sat on.

- [Ride-along](/glossary/ride-along): The manager in the passenger seat, on the same turf.

- [Turf](/glossary/turf): The pack the recorded doors have to belong to.

## How Knockdesk tracks it

Coach records the visit after consent, writes a recap, and scores six steps against your playbook. There is no live whisper. The tape sits on the knock, on turf the rep already holds. Full desk is on the pricing page.

## Keep going from the tape

- [Field sales glossary](/glossary): The hub this term opens from.

- [Ride-along](/glossary/ride-along): The walk when you still take the car.

- [Coach](/coach): Record, recap, and six scores. No live whisper.
