# Paper after the talk, then the pin

What is a leave behind in sales is physical material you put in a hand or on a door after the talk: a one-sheet, a magnet, a door hanger. Knockdesk is field sales software that logs that visit on the turf. It does not stock a collateral SKU.

## A flyer on the knob is not coverage until the pin says so

You feel it when the van is empty of paper and Friday still shows Unvisited on houses that have a hanger. What is a leave behind in sales is the physical piece. Coverage is the visit you logged on the turf. If Maya talks at 418 Oak, leaves a one-sheet, and never saves an outcome, Jordan recuts that porch tomorrow.

**Material.** A one-sheet, a magnet, a hanger. It lives in the world, not in a product catalog.

**Visit.** Log the outcome on the pin, even when the talk was short and you left paper.

**Turf.** The pack you hold. A leave-behind that never hits that pack is a blank door for the next loop.

## Twelve sheets left, eight visits logged, four porches the map still calls new

Maya holds Dock loop, 160 pins, weekly visit target 70. She talks at 40 doors and leaves a one-sheet at 12 of them. She logs 8 of those 12. Four houses have paper on the knob and still read Unvisited. Next week those four look fresh. Recompute coverage from the pin, not from the stack in the van.

| Count | Number | What the turf believes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Talks | 40 | Doors where a conversation started |
| Leave-behinds | 12 | Paper in the world |
| Those 12 logged as visits | 8 | The pack can skip them next loop |
| Paper, no pin | 4 | Unvisited. Jordan will knock them again. |

## A leave-behind is not a door hanger by default, and it is not the knock

A door hanger is one kind of leave-behind. The knock is the visit on the pin, including Not Home. Leave paper if the talk needs a remainder. Still log the stop. The desk will not tell you which SKU went out.

- [Door hanger](/glossary/door-hanger): One physical piece you can leave. Still log the visit.

- [Turf](/glossary/turf): The pack the leave-behind has to sit on, or the next loop treats the house as new.

## How Knockdesk tracks it

Log the visit on the pin after the talk, including when you left paper. Knockdesk stores that outcome on the turf. It does not inventory a collateral SKU. Full desk is on the pricing page.

## FAQ

### What is a leave behind in sales?

A leave behind in sales is physical material left after the talk: a one-sheet, a magnet, a door hanger. The desk logs the visit. It does not stock that SKU.

### Does leaving paper count as a knock?

No. Coverage is the visit on the pin. Paper without a log still reads Unvisited for the next loop.

### Does Knockdesk track which flyer went out?

No. Knockdesk stores the visit on the turf. It does not inventory collateral.

### Is a door hanger a leave-behind?

Yes. A door hanger is one kind of leave-behind. Log the stop either way.

### What happens to the four unlogged sheets in the example?

### How much does Knockdesk cost?

Full desk is on the pricing page. A free trial is not open.
