# The person who sits the deal after the set

What is a closer in sales? Knockdesk is field sales software, and a closer is the person who sits the deal after the set, on the same pin and vendor as the knock that booked it.

## The closer cannot sit a house the setter never logged

A closer who arrives to a text pin and a first name is already behind. The set has to live on the address, with the vendor, or the sit is a scavenger hunt. When two people work the same door, Friday splits unless the household is one lead.

**The set.** If Appointment Set never hits the pin, the closer is working a rumor.

**The sit.** The closer needs the same address the setter knocked, not a new contact typed at the table.

**The split.** Pay can split. The household should not. One lead per pin and vendor keeps the closer on the set.

## Forty sits, ten closes, a split you can recompute

Labeled example, not a customer payout. A setter books 40 sits. A closer wins 10 of them. Sit-to-close is 10 / 40 = 25 percent. If the setter earns $25 per sit and the closer earns $400 per close, setter pay is 40 times $25 = $1,000. Closer pay is 10 times $400 = $4,000. The math only holds if those 40 sits and 10 closes are the same households.

| Input | Number | Result |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Sits booked | 40 | The setter's denominator |
| Closes | 10 | The closer's numerator |
| Sit-to-close | 10 / 40 = 25% | The closer's conversion on those sits |
| Setter pay example | 40 x $25 | $1,000 |
| Closer pay example | 10 x $400 | $4,000 |

## Closer and setter are a pair, not two CRMs

A setter books the sit. A closer sits the deal. Self-gen is when one person does both. The field sales representative on assigned turf may be either, or both, depending on how the desk cuts the week.

**Setter.** Books the appointment. The closer cannot invent that sit at the table.

**Sit.** The table conversation the closer runs, tied to the pin the setter already knocked.

**Confirmed sale.** The close after the vendor file matches. Pay follows that confirmation, not a handshake memory.

## How Knockdesk tracks it

Knockdesk opens a lead from the visit when Creates Lead is on, and keeps one lead per pin and vendor. Appointment Set can show as a deal column. Sold can mark the close. Import leads is a file. Full desk is on the pricing page.

## FAQ

### What is a closer in sales?

A closer in sales is the person who sits the deal after the set. They run the table on the household the setter already booked.

### Is a closer the same as a setter?

No. The setter books the sit. The closer asks for the sale. One person can do both. That is self-gen, not two jobs with two addresses.

### Does a closer always work door to door?

On a field crew, the closer often sits in the home after a knock. The term still means the person who closes, not the person who only sets.

### How do you measure a closer?

Name sits as the base, then closes. In the example, 10 closes on 40 sits is 25 percent. Do not hide that in a knock count.

### What if the setter and closer argue about the house?

Keep one lead per pin and vendor. The sit and the close are stages on that household, not two records.

### Does Knockdesk assign closer as a job title?

Knockdesk tracks the visit, the lead, and the deal on the address. Your roster still names who sets and who sits.
